There is another HOME STAR program which is Cash for appliances that will help you save money by selecting or replacing appliances which will reduce energy consumption. This is a rebate program wherein every state has limited amount of money. This money is given in the form of rebates on every appliance that is bought.
The high efficiency energy star appliances will qualify for the rebate. You need to replace your existing appliances within the list of qualifying appliances. Certain states offer tax incentives for the same appliances.
You need to decide on which appliance you would be switching to in order to save money annually. A special meter will let you know how much energy is consumed by the existing appliance when compared to the high energy efficient appliance. You can then make the right decision.
